Angela works with the medium of encaustic, which is beeswax-based paint. Her art explores human emotions, fears, phobias, and primal instincts. while the themes of metamorphosis, transmutation and transformation are all key in her work. Morphogenesis literally translates as “the beginning of the shape”. This word not only represents the recurring, and symbolic, ovoid shapes in Angela's work, but her interest in comparing the geological effects of time with those of the psychological effects of time. Much that happens within us, within our minds and cells can be can visually represented by the shapes and formations of our physical world. Both are subterranean, unseen. Time, emotion, memory, our connection to others and the planet, are all abstract and experienced differently - even within ourselves as we age and change.
